A Strange Message From Jupiter

Wow, this is really weird…but cool.

While writing my former post Pluto Transiting Sagittarius Ascendant: More Thoughts something strange but fabulous happened.

First of all, I was listening to a classical music cd, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf Sings Hugo Wolf Lieder(lieder means songs). Hugo Wolf is a Viennese composer of the 19th century. He is also a Pisces, ruled by Jupiter.

While I was writing this sentence, “My natal Jupiter is at 24 Gemini, retrograde, and very close to the cusp of the 7th”, one of my favorite Wolf songs came on and I was completely taken by the beauty of it and started singing along, getting really into it. The name of the song is “Ganymede”. Those of us who know our mythology, know that Ganymede was abducted to Olympus by Zeus or Jupiter to be his cup bearer, among (ahem) other things.

I immediately looked to see what astrological hour it was. It was Jupiter hour.It is also a Venus day, and Venus is in Sagittarius. Venus, of course, is music. Incredible Synchronicity!

Jupiter definitely made his presence known

Pluto Transiting Sagittarius Ascendant: More Thougts

Blogging is fun because you get to relate any subject matter to your own personal experience. Pluto is currently transiting my ascendant, which is in the late degrees of Sagittarius.

In The Current Pluto Transit For Sagittarius Ascendant, I wrote about the ascendant, its often overlooked connection with the physical body and health, and my hip problem. I thought I would look at my natal Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, for a more in depth picture of Pluto’s transformational effect.

My natal Jupiter is at 24 Gemini, retrograde, and very close to the cusp of the 7th. The 7th is the house of marriage, open enemies, contracts and partnerships. This past year has been an extremely important year for me: no, I didn’t get married…..per se, but I did enter into a major business partnership with the co-owner of ancientsky.com, Claire-France Perez. CF (I call her CF) and I have been friends for over 10 years, but we just formalized our business last year! For extra astrological mileage, CF has a 29 Gemini Ascendant. This of course means that Pluto’s transit is conjuncting HER 7th house!

Anyone who has ever been in business partnership knows that it greatly resembles a marriage. Pluto is clearly having his way with my poor little chart!

The Current Pluto Transit For Sagittarius Ascendant

Pluto has been travelling over the last 5 degrees of Sagittarius for quite some time now. I have a 27 Sagittarius ascendant, and Pluto’s transformational influence is affecting many areas of my life.

As the ascendant rules the body, and Sagittarius the hip, an old hip injury has escalated to a chronic sciatica condition and I am now at the position where I’ve decided to undertake a very disciplined yoga regime to try to transform and strengthen it. Thus, concentrating on the hip is transforming my relationship to my body and to physical activity as well.

Sagittarius is a Jupiter sign, and, as the arrow, is known as the sign of far-off destinations. I have always loved travel, meeting people from other cultures, sacred sites and spiritual destinations; all things connected with Jupiter and Sagittarius. During this Pluto transit to my ascendant, I solidified my interest in travel by acquiring an online travel business. My new travel business has evolved into a travel website, travel.ancientsky.com which will concentrate on offering travel to sacred sites and spiritual destinations, ayurveda and yoga retreats in India and Destination Weddings and Honeymoons.

So, my relationship to long distance travel has also gone through a transformational process. I would like to add that in both cases, this process seemed to happen almost invisibly from the ground up: very Plutonian.

Until Next Time.

Horary Blogging: Will We Take This Trip

Question:

“Mercury rx will be transiting my seventh house and my husbands 2nd. I am trying to look at this trip as a re-kindling of romance. Any advice? Should I reschedule the trip?”

The Astrologer Replies:

You were right to be concerned about traveling during a Mercury retrograde, as he rules travels.

I found this an interesting question, so I decided to answer it by using horary. The use of horary (from the latin “hora” meaning “hour”)
has been more rare among astrologers in the past 100 years, but it has many excellent applications, and this travel question is a classic horary question.

First of all, horary represents the art of answering a question by creating a chart for the moment the question is posed. If the question is not posed in person, as is the case here,
the astrologer uses the moment that he understands the question.

I understand the question to be, “Will We Take The Trip?” .

A few rules: Our Cast

The querent(person asking the question) is the ascendant and ruler of the ascendant
The querents’ husband would be the 7th house and its ruler
Short journeys are represented by the 3rd house and its ruler
Long distance journeys are represented by the 9th house and its ruler
The Moon always co-rules the question
We are looking for whether the situation “perfects”, or comes to pass, this means that the Moon or the ruler of the Ascendant come to the ruler of the 3rd or 9th with a harmonious aspect.

What Is The Situation

First of all, if you’re planning a long distance journey my advice is to shelve it. You cannot afford it.

The Moon is in Gemini, which shows the concern about a Mercury retrograde - since Mercury rule s Gemini, and is about to enter the 3rd house, which leads me to believe that you are contemplating a short journey to a place that is maybe familiar. Mercury, the ruler of the 3rd is right on the Midheaven, which gives further confirmation that it may be a short journey.

This chart is an excellent example of how to assess a planet’s essential dignity or inherent power. Dr. J.Lee Lehman states that in order for a horary question to “perfect” or come to pass,
the significators have to be dignified.

This means that planets are most powerful when occupying signs they own by domicile or exaltation. Mars owns Aries and Scorpio and is exalted in Capricorn. He is weak in the signs opposite to those signs.

Aries rises and this Mars(you)is weak in Cancer(his fall-the opposite of Capricorn)and retrograde. This may represent your fear of the retrograde, since Mars rules courage and is in a “weakling” sign of Cancer. Also, the Moon in Gemini is the ruler of Mars, once again showing your fear of Mercury’s “power”(Mercury is in Mars’ exaltation of Capricorn).
The 8th house rules fears and terrors. It also, by virtue of being the 2nd house(money) from the 7th, rules your husbands money. We can now see that you are not just scared about the Mercury retrograde, you’re also concerned about your husbands’ money.

So is he, we already mentioned that the 7th house represents your husband in this question. The cusp of the 7th is 13 Libra, which is ruled by Venus who is at 20 degrees Scorpio on the cusp of the 8th house, your husbands money! Venus rules Taurus and Libra and is weak in Scorpio and Aries. So this Venus(your husband) doesn’t have much power to act or produce regarding this question.
What kind of condition is your husband’s money in? Mars rules Scorpio and we have already mentioned that Mars is retrograde and in fall(opposite of exaltation)which might represent some kind of financial reversal. Mars is in the 4th representing homes and real estate. We can also see the financial tension by the fact that Mercury has just left the opposition to Mars, this money situation has threatened the journey.

Where Were You Going?

Mercury, the journey in a southern sign of Capricorn on the southern angle. The cusp of the 3rd house(short journeys) is in the western sign of Gemini. I would guess that you were going south and possibly west. Capricorn rules the mountain goat, so maybe you were going to the mountains for skiing.

Will You Go On The Journey, And When?

The Moon is at 14 Gemini and the cusp of the third(short journeys)is at 18 degrees. Maybe you’re planning something in the next 4 weeks, which would make sense with the retrograde cycle.
I think the journey happens for two reasons. The Moon enters the third house in 4 degrees, placing you’re fortune securely on a short journey. We haven’t mentioned Saturn yet, but he rules a ver important house; the house of hopes and dreams, the 11th!

Mercury(the journey) and Saturn(my hope) are exchanging signs: Saturn in Virgo, Mercury in Capricorn. This is called mutual reception They are also approaching each other by trine.

That sounds like realizing the dream to me. Now, Saturn is no luxury traveller, so I would say to make this an enjoyable but frugal trip where you concentrate on easing the stress you’ve been experiencing.

Keep us posted on how things turn out.

Antoine

The Querent Replies:

Antoine,
Wow! You are so right on about absolutely everything! Ok, except the skiing part, but we ARE traveling south west, so that is correct. I’m a Cancer and my husband is Scorpio, with Saturn in his eighth which means his $$ is ALWAYS an issue. You know, there is never enough (even if there really is), etc. But you said there will be a role reversal in this and today there has been! I sold some artwork today and received $$ for the trip, and even though our money is really all in one pile, I feel it is now I that is paying for the trip.

I did some tarot readings on this and have decided to go ahead and take the trip and to look at it as an adventure. And your reading even furthered this conclusion. Thanks so so much! Wish us luck!

Thanks again,
PWP
